Sometimes you run across a circuit that doesn’t make sense. This is one. Was the designer trying to obscure how it worked? Did he have a million 150 ohm resistors to get rid of?
Whatever. It does work, more or less. Mostly less, but it’s basically the single FET and single PNP circuit described here, third from top. The resistor values are suited to 5V Plug-In-Power, but may not be safe with 48V phantom power, since practically the full 48V could be applied to the FET, and the K596 is rated for 20V max. The mic comes bundled with a USB Sound Card, and is not advertised as phantom power compatible. Not particularly looking for a smoke show today, I haven’t tried it. Yet. Maybe later ... Bought it for the body.
Anyway, here for your edification is the “150 0hm” mic circuit.
